Stoke City manager Gary Rowett has spoken to the Stoke Sentinel and said that he needs to balance out the needs of his squad with gaining momentum in the Championship.

The Potters finally got a win under their belts this weekend as they dispatched Hull City 2-0 at the Bet365 Stadium.

New signing James McClean got on the scoresheet too to complete a good weekend for the Potters, but now, with a League Cup tie with Huddersfield Town this week, Rowett is looking to balance his squad and not make too many rash changes.

"I think I’ll have to make some changes because you’ve got players like Cuco and Mame who have just played their first games in a long time, so they might struggle to go again Tuesday. But I certainly won’t be making lots of changes because we need to try to keep a little continuity and momentum after this win.” said Rowett.

Stoke had made a poor start to the season following a summer of heavy investment, and the win over the Tigers at the weekend will have done Rowett the world of good, as an element of pressure had begun to build following his move from Derby this summer.
