The talk around Derby County in the January transfer window has mainly revolved around outgoings, with the Rams experienced squad attracting interest from teams across the Championship.

Darren Bent has left to join Burton Albion on loan while defender Jason Shackell has joined Millwall, who held Derby to a 0-0 draw at the Den last night.

That result means Derby are still second in the Championship but they are now 11 points off leaders Wolves and just the one point ahead of their rampant Midlands rivals Aston Villa.

Speaking after the match and ahead of Deadline Day, Derby boss Gary Rowett told the club's official website: "We’ve got good players that haven’t had much game time, we saw that when Ikechi [Anya] came on.

"I don’t want to sign another player just for the sake of it. We want quality, and if we can get that then we’ll bring it into the building. Sometimes, the valuations become very expensive so we’ll try to do what we can."

The Verdict

The only place I could see Derby needing to improve is left-back or maybe bringing another winger into the club if Johnny Russell gets his wish to move to MLS.

A bid for James McClean has been rejected by West Brom and maybe Rowett will go back in for him today.
