Derby County are considering the offers they have received for Jamie Hanson and Mason Bennett, with Gary Rowett keen for the duo to head out on-loan before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, as reported by the Derby Telegraph.

Rowett confirmed that Derby had received offers for both Hanson and Bennett, who have found themselves on the fringe of this season’s promotion push in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Rams are keen for Hanson, who has made just one appearances this season, to gain experience in the holding midfield role, which is where Rowett believes is the 22-year-old’s best position.

Likewise, Derby are keen for Bennett to play in an attacking role, although Rowett wants to see the 21-year-old play through the middle rather than out wide.

Speaking about the potential of the duo moving out on-loan, Rowett said: “We have had loan enquiries for Jamie and Mason that would give them good game-time in the positions they want to play.

"We see Jamie as a defensive midfielder and we see Mason as playing in the front three positions, but it would be nice to have a little look at him down the middle for a period of time because I think that is probably what will be his best position.”

Rowett’s current group of first-team regulars are delivering a strong promotion push in the Championship, with Derby looking likely to challenge for automatic promotion.

The Rams currently sit second, a distance behind Wolves, but still two points clear of Cardiff City and the rest of the chasing pack.

The Verdict

It will be a sensible move from Derby to offload the duo this month, and it is refreshing to hear that Rowett wants to find the right club for them, where they will be given a chance in their natural positions.

Too many players go out on-loan and play out of position, so Derby’s stance here is impressive and one that should be praised.

Hanson and Bennett are both good players and shouldn’t be short of options.
