Stoke City have endured a very difficult first few months in the Championship, with the pre-season title favourites languishing in the bottom half.

After a very productive summer that saw many proven players join the Staffordshire club, along with Jack Butland and Joe Allen staying, there was an expectation that they would return to the Premier League immediately.

However, things haven't gone that way at all with Gary Rowett's side struggling for points and performances, with the Potters six points away from the play-offs already.

Even though there has been a glimmer of hope in recent weeks, with one defeat in eight, too many draws have halted any serious progress.

Given that, January could be crucial and the former Derby boss is expected to spend seriously once again to revamp his squad.

Yet, he will also be keen on shifting a few players out of the door.

Here we look at TWO who are likely to move on in the New Year...

Many Stoke fans won't want to see Bauer leave but the reality is that he is way down the pecking order and has clearly fallen out with the manager.

Therefore, it makes sense for all parties if the 26-year-old finds a new club in January and he should bring in a fairly reasonable fee.

However, it's a different story with Adam, as the Potters supporters will be delighted to see the back of the former Liverpool man.

He has played just three times this season and regularly fails to make the squad.

At 32-years-old, Adam's best days are behind him and should he depart a big wage will go too.
