Stoke Cityâs Charlie Adam and Moritz Bauer continue to train with the first-team, despite Gary Rowett leaving the duo out of his matchday squads recently. Â
Rowett has turned to other options over the last few weeks, as he looks to put Stokeâs season on track after a difficult start.
Adam hasnât featured yet this season in the Championship and was left out of Rowettâs last two matchday squads.
Like Adam, Bauer has also struggled for opportunities after playing 90 minutes in the opening two fixtures of the season.
The right-back has been left out of three of the last four matchday squads.
Ahead of this weekâs clash with Swansea City, Rowett has provided an update on the duo to Stokeâs official media:
Itâs been an incredibly tough start to the Championship season for Stoke, who havenât lived up to the pre-season expectation.
Stoke have just six points to their name from the opening seven fixtures of the season, which leaves them in 20th.
On Saturday it looked like Stoke would record only their second victory of the Championship season against Sheffield Wednesday. However, the Owls battled back from 2-0 down to frustrate the Potters.
The Verdict Â
Stoke have a big squad at their disposal, so players are always going to miss out.
With Ryan Woods and Joe Allen amongst the options in central midfield, it is easy to see why Adam isnât in Rowettâs thoughts, but Bauer is a little but different, as he could bring a lot.
With results not going Stokeâs way, questions will be asked about the exclusion of the full-back.
