Stoke City are one of the favourites for promotion this season coming in the Sky Bet Championship and it’s easy to see why.
Though some players have left the club, much of their squad is still intact from last season and there is plenty of quality there to have an impact in the Championship.
Meanwhile, they’ve added good players like Tom Ince and James McClean to their ranks so it is fair to say that they are gunning for promotion.
That said, though, the spending – or the wanting to – has not ended just yet with Gary Rowett confirming a bid has been submitted for James Chester of Aston Villa – as per Joe Rawson on Twitter:

A player of real defensive quality, Chester is arguably one of the best centre-halves in the league and was vital to Aston Villa’s cause last season.
Stoke want him, then, and it remains to be seen if they get him.
Chester would be a class player for the Potters or anyone else in the league.
He’s a reliable, consistent presence at the back and Rowett has underlined the club’s interest in the player by confirming a bid has gone in.
