Burnley will be without Scott Twine for a couple more fixtures.

It’s been a relatively slow start to Twine’s career at Turf Moor, with the former MK Dons man managing only 20 minutes of action so far.

An injury is keeping Twine on the sidelines and the 23-year-old is unlikely to be back in the side this week.

As per the Burnley Express’ Chris Boden, Vincent Kompany has suggested that Twine will still be missing for a “couple of games”.

Burnley are taking on Hull City and Blackpool this week in the Championship, as they look to build on a start that’s seen them pick up four points from three fixtures.

A win over Huddersfield Town on the opening weekend was backed up by a draw with Luton Town the following week. Kompany tasted his first defeat on Friday night at the hands of Watford, losing 1-0 at Vicarage Road.

Twine arrived at Burnley on the back of a superb season with MK Dons, having struck 20 goals and registered a further 13 assists in the club’s push for promotion in League One.

In his 20-minute cameo against Huddersfield, Twine came close to opening his Burnley account, striking a free-kick onto the post.

The Verdict

It’s been a frustrating start to life as a Burnley player for Twine, but this just seems a case of Kompany managing the niggle he’s got.

In many ways, Twine’s start to the season has mirrored Burnley’s. There was promise at Huddersfield, but then a touch of frustration to follow.

The early signs have been good enough though, with Burnley adapting well to Kompany’s methods.

Once Twine is back and in the side, it will only improve Burnley.
