Rotherham United are said to have turned down a deadline day offer from another Sky Bet League One club for winger Kieran Sadlier, as per a recent report by the Rotherham Advertiser.

The Millers are said to have fielded interest from other clubs in several of their best players as they looked to hold onto their key performers at the New York Stadium.

In addition to the bid they received for Sadlier, there was also interest in the likes of Josh Kayode, Ben Wiles and Dan Barlaser, with all four players eventually choosing to stay put with the Yorkshire outfit.

Sadlier only signed for the club last season from Doncaster Rovers and is yet to really hit the heights that were previously expected of him when he arrived.

Now into the final 12 months of his current contract with the Millers, the winger will be hoping that he can hit top form in a red shirt.

The Verdict

It would have been interesting to know which of Rotherham's League One rivals made an approach for Sadlier but all in all it was never likely that they would have cashed in on him with such little time to find a replacement.

He certainly needs to step up his game this season as many of the club's fans will feel that they are yet to see the best of him in a Rotherham shirt so far.

He has proved in the past that he has the talent to perform consistently well at this level and is sure to be a key player for Paul Warne and his side moving forwards.

If the Millers can get the 26-year-old and their other key names firing, they will have a very strong chance of making it back into the Championship at the first attempt after suffering releagtion last season in unfortunate circumstances.
