Rotherham head coach Neil Redfearn has admitted the club could launch a bid to re-sign striker Alex Revell from Cardiff City, reports BBC Sport.

League One clubs keen on Revell

The forward joined The Bluebirds a year ago in January 2015 but has struggled to make an impact on the pitch which frustrated many of the Cardiff City supporters, after scoring just twice, which led to the striker being sent out on loan to Sky Bet League One side Wigan where he made four appearances, finding the back of the net once and was then called back to the Welsh Capital.

The 32-year-old spent three-and-a-half years with the Millers before jumping ship to South Wales, leaving the New York Stadium where he scored 28 times in 136 league matches.

Redfearn has now revealed Revell is one of several attacking options he is looking to bring to Rotherham to help the club stay in the second tier, although believes that deals are harder to finalise than he had initially expected caused by the club’s perilous position in the table.

Talking to BBC Sport, Redfearn said,

"Alex is somebody we've looked at. There's been dialogue between the clubs, but getting players isn't as straightforward as it seems.

"We're looking at quite a few players - we want to strengthen in that area.

"He's somebody that did well for this football club. He's fondly remembered by the supporters here and I know he thinks that way as well about the club and the supporters."

The Millers are currently outside the relegation zone in 21st position, and are level on points with 22nd placed Bristol City who occupy the final relegation spot.

Next up for Redfearn in the Sky Bet Championship is a home game against Brighton and Hove Albion whose form has dipped of late.

The January transfer window will be crucial to deciding who loses their place in the second tier of English football and signing the correct talent will more than likely be the deciding factor come May.
