Rotherham United will be confident of bouncing straight back into the second tier yet again and the latest transfer news coming out of the club will only help them further.

Paul Warne and co were relegated despite a spirited season in the Championship but with a decent summer window, there is no reason they cannot be promoted again.

And they announced on Monday that they had completed the signing of Wigan Athletic midfielder Shaun MacDonald.

After three seasons with the Latics he has decided to move on to the Yorkshire club, bringing with him a wealth of Championship experience and becomes the club's second signing of the summer following Carlton Morris's arrival.

He has struggled with injuries in the past, but MacDonald's ability is widely accepted and should prove a top player in the third tier.

So, how should the fans be feeling?

Although this is a decent signing, it should be laced with a feeling of resignation for Millers fans.

Will Vaulks was outstanding for the club last season in the middle of the park but this news may well signal his inevitable departure.

Cardiff City are apparently chasing the 27-year-old who scored seven and assisted seven for the strugglers last season, according to BBC Sport, with many others sure to join them.

So whilst fans should be happy about MacDonald's arrival, they should be wary about what it could mean for their star man.
