Rotherham United are closing in on a deal to sign former Blackburn forward Dominic Samuel according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
Samuel has been a free-agent since his deal with Blackburn Rovers reached a conclusion at the end of the 2019/20 season at Ewood Park.
The 26-year-old has previously been on the books with Reading in the Championship as well, but struggled to make a notable impact with the Royals, which resulted in him moving to Blackburn.
Samuel made 15 senior appearances in all competitions for Blackburn in the 2019/20 season, and will be looking at having his future resolved at the earliest of opportunities ahead of the new league campaign.
Rotherham will be planning for life back in the Championship, after their promotion from League One was confirmed after the majority of clubs in League One agreed to finish the season on a PPG (points per game) basis.
It meant that the Millers finished second in the League One table, and will be hoping they can spring a few surprises back in the second-tier next season.
Paul Warne will be hoping he can add to his squad ahead of the new league campaign, as they look to avoid an immediate relegation back into League One.

This could be a decent addition to the Rotherham squad.
Samuel has experience of playing in the Championship, whilst with both Reading and Blackburn Rovers, so it’s good to see that Rotherham are looking at players that have played in the second-tier.
It’s going to be a tough battle to retain their status as a club in the Championship next season, so it’s vital that Paul Warne makes the necessary additions to his squad during the summer transfer window.
If he can stay injury-free, signing Samuel could be a shrewd bit of business by the Millers.
