Rotherham United boss wants to sign 27-year-old striker following release from Scottish giants

Striker Anthony Stokes looks set for a move to Sky Bet Championship outfit Rotherham United, following his release from Celtic yesterday evening, according to Club Call.

Stokes had fallen down the pecking order at Celtic Park and will now look to link back up with Alan Stubbs who he played for during a loan spell with Hibernian last season.

Should Stubbs complete a deal to bring Stokes to the New York Stadium, he will become the manager’s first signing since arriving at the club, and represent a real coup for the Millers in the process.

The 27-year-old netted nine goals for Hibs last season and Stubbs clearly sees something in the striker to suggest he can cut the mustard in the Sky Bet Championship, with an advance towards the player expected from the Millers.

Given the player’s record in front of goal there is likely to be other potential suitors and in particular from the Sky Bet Championship.

Rotherham United fans, would you welcome Stokes to the club? What could he offer the club?
