Rotherham United player Chiedozie Ogbene has a few Championship teams that want to try and sign him this summer - but boss Paul Warne has now revealed to Wales Online that he is yet to have any offers for the wing-back.

The Millers played their football in League One last season and Ogbene was one of the side's most important players during the campaign. He played in a total of 45 games and produced four goals with five assists as the club sealed another promotion to the Championship.

Now, the player has a chance to prove himself in the second tier again, having managed only six starts in the division last time he played there.

However, after a season in which he shone for Rotherham, he might now get the chance to play for a different Championship team this campaign, with other second tier sides looking to try and seal a transfer move for him.

One of the clubs who want to try and sign him is Swansea, who are looking to try and push on up the division under Russell Martin. The side want another wing-back option and it appears Ogbene is the man they want to play in that role for the club.

However, as quoted by Wales Online about the player and potential interest, Rotherham manager Paul Warne has revealed that currently the player has no transfer offers for his services. For now then, the player looks like he could be staying with the Millers.

Speaking about the player and a potential transfer then, Warne said: "In fairness, I'd rather him play brilliantly now because if it's going to happen, it might as well happen. There's no point in it happening on the eve of the window, and then I get told, 'unlucky' if only it had been [earlier].

"But as it stands at the moment, I've had no calls for him. The chairman doesn't want to sell him, he's in the last year of his contract, I'm not even convinced the lad wants to go, so we're in a good place."

The Verdict

Rotherham United's Chiedozie Ogbene looks to be a very solid player and could be a very good wing-back at Championship level.

Considering that the Millers used him often last season and he now has plenty of EFL experience under his belt, he could be quite a football player in the second tier. Swansea need a wing-back and Ogbene is arguably one of the most talented options in the Football League.

If Russell Martin can seal a transfer deal for the player, then it would be a very good piece of business. He's proven he can be a top-level Rotherham player in League One and now is the time for him to show that he can be even better in the Championship.

If Ogbene plays for Swansea and produces similar performances, then he would become one of the best in his position in the second tier. The player though seemingly has no offers for his signature yet - but with Championship teams wanting a transfer, expect the player to have bids for his signature during the rest of the window.
