David Prutton is predicting the Millers to come away with an advantage from their first leg play-off.

In his weekly Sky Sports column, the EFL pundit is predicting a 1-0 victory for Rotherham United.

The journey to the play-offs has been significantly different for both teams with Rotherham holding on to a spot for the majority of the season with this being their only realistic chance of promotion for a while.

Scunthorpe ended the season strongly to finish in fifth place with an eight game unbeaten run with four consecutive victories which was only ended by a 1-1 draw with Bradford on the final day. This has seen them take advantage of poor ends to the season by Plymouth, Portsmouth and Peterborough.

The Verdict

The two teams are interesting contrasts because Rotherham have had a lot longer to prepare for this game while Scunthorpe have the momentum. Rotherham also have the advantage based on recent games between the two because they won both matches in the regular season.

A win for the Millers is a risky prediction considering how strong Scunthorpe ended the season, but Rotherham did win three of their last five games. Therefore, they aren't in bad form and the draw with Bradford could be a sign that the Iron might have peaked too soon.
