Many Leeds supporters were left frustrated when young midfielder, Ronaldo Vieira departed the club in favour of a move to Italian club, Sampdoria in the summer.

Vieira impressed in his breakthrough season with the Whites, and it wasn't a surprise to see the youngster attracting interest.

But Leeds have put the loss of their talisman behind them, and are well in the hunt for promotion back to the top-flight this season.

The Whites are just a point behind league-leaders, Norwich City heading into the festive period, and many supporters will be confident of Bielsa's side returning to the top of the table.

Vieira has gone on to make four appearances in total for Sampdoria and will certainly be hoping for more regular game time for the remainder of the season.

In a recent interview with FourFourTwo, Vieira revealed that the move from Elland Road was completed in swift time, and was open to the move to Italy.

"The move was quite quick. They just came with an offer and that’s what happens - when the club receives a good offer, they accept it. I was willing and open to it, so everything went smoothly."

The 20-year-old also made a surprise admission, as he admitted that he still supports the Whites, and was full of praise for them for aiding his development as a player in the early stages of his professional career.

"I have no bad feelings about Leeds; I’m grateful for what they've done for me, and I think I improved a lot as a player and became more mature there, so I thank them. I’m still supporting them now."

The Verdict:

I think Vieira is slightly regretting the move to Italy.

He was a rare bright spark for Leeds last season, and it was no surprise to see him depart the club in the summer, but he might be frustrated at not being part of the Whites' team this year.

Leeds could certainly benefit from having someone of Vieira's calibre in the centre of midfield, but he will be hoping to get more regular game time under his belt in the near future, having not made the impact he would have hoped for so far this season.
