West Brom have recently announced that midfielder Chris Brunt will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the 2019/20 season.

The Northern Irishman made over 400 appearances for the Baggies over a 13-year spell with the club, and will be hoping he can finish this year's campaign strongly.

Brunt has also played his part in West Brom's previous two promotions into the Premier League, and will be hoping to achieve a third this season under the management of Slaven Bilic.

West Brom are currently sat second in the Championship table, and are six points clear of third-placed Fulham with nine matches remaining this term.

Brunt's departure at the end of this season has prompted a number of his former team-mates to praise him for contribution to the club over the years.

One of those was Romelu Lukaku, who labelled Brunt as 'pure class', which is a statement that plenty of West Brom supporters are likely to agree with.

Lukaku certainly made a positive impact with the Baggies, in a hugely impressive loan spell with the club back in the 2012/13 season.

The Belgian forward scored 17 goals in 38 appearances for the club, before returning to Stamford Bridge with Chelsea.

He moved to Everton soon after his loan spell with West Brom, but is now playing his football with Italian giants Inter Milan, whilst being on loan from Manchester United.

The Verdict:

It's good to see some of Brunt's former team-mates issuing high praise for the Northern Irishman.

I still think that Brunt's contribution to the club is underrated by football supporters in general, and he's been a key member of their squad in both the Championship and the Premier League.

Brunt and Lukaku clearly had a good working relationship on the pitch, with the experienced midfielder often being relied upon to provide the creative spark for Lukaku whilst with the Baggies.
