Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz has taken to his personal Instagram account following his impact from the bench in their 2-1 defeat at home to Reading on Saturday.
Marco Silva’s side were unable to build on their 4-1 win at Birmingham City in midweek as they fell to a surprise defeat at Craven Cottage against an improving Reading side.
The defeat was largely down to Fulham not being able to make the most of getting into to dangerous positions in the final third.
In total they had 25 efforts on goal during the 90 minutes, but only five of those were on target. That is compared with Reading who had eight efforts and four on target.
In the 55th minute of the game with Fulham having just gone two goals behind thanks to Ovie Ejaria’s second goal of the contest, Silva elected to bring Muniz off the bench for just the second time since his arrival at Craven Cottage.
The forward was able to make a difference for Fulham in his cameo and he linked up well with Aleksander Mitrovic at times, especially as he opened his account in English football with a well taken effort from Mitrovic’s clever flick.

That did not prove to be enough to get Fulham anything from the game. However, it does give Silva something to think about moving forwards and will put Muniz firmly in his plans to potentially start games in the near future.

After netting his first goal for Fulham against Reading, Muniz took to his personal Instagram account to celebrate that moment with supporters. While he also insisted it needs to be the platform for him to move ahead and continue his form.

Muniz’s impact from the bench was one of the main positives for Fulham to take from their second Championship defeat of the campaign against Reading.
The 20-year-old was able to make two key passes as well as getting his first goal for the club in his 35 minutes on the field and that is not bad going for someone still adapting to life in English football.
Silva will need to find a way to get the best out of Muniz moving forwards and he will want to get him on the ball more than they were able to do at times against Reading in the last half an hour.
Mitrovic seems to be an ideal player for Muniz to link up with and make things happen in the final third and there is certainly the potential for them to form a very strong partnership over the course of the campaign.
Getting his first goal for the club will provide Muniz with a lot of confidence and belief now and it is vital that Silva manages him in the right way to help him maintain his confidence levels without burning him out too soon.
Silva showed a lot of faith in the forward and played a major role in him arriving at Fulham ahead of Middlesbrough in the summer, so you would expect Muniz to eventually establish himself as a crucial member of the squad.
