Despite Burton Albion’s defeat to Leicester City in the Round-of-16 of the Carabao Cup, many supporters were still overwhelmingly impressed with the performance of John-Joe O’Toole.

The midfielder by trade has maintained the centre-back role for the Brewers since his arrival from Northampton in the summer and has made the position his own.

Last night’s match against the former Premier League champions was another complete performance which highlighted the veteran’s professionalism. His task was a great one too, having to stay with the constant runs of Kelechi Iheanacho whilst covering for John Brayford to track Marc Albrighton.

He did so to good effect too, with Burton remaining in the game right up until the 89th minute when substitute James Maddison gave the visitors a 3-1 lead.

The Burton Twitter account acknowledged his performance too, releasing a video of the defender heading down the tunnel to a standing ovation.

The supporters responded entirely and all believed he was the Man of the Match by some margin.
