Rochdale youngster James Hooper is being linked with a move to Premier League newcomers Norwich City, reports Eastern Daily Press.
The 18-year-old is highly-rated at Spotland but is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Greater Manchester outfit.
The Sunday People claim the Canaries have made an approach to Dale for permission to discuss personal terms with Hooper.
The striker scored 23 goals for the club’s youth side last season and won the youth team Player of the Season trophy.
An unlikely rumour that sprung up over the weekend regarding Norwich, was that they were in the chase for Ipswich Town striker Daryl Murphy.
The former Celtic man was the Championship top scorer last season with 27 goals and the Daily Star claim the Carrow Road outfit were in the race along with Leicester and West Brom.
Even if Alex Neil was interested in the 32-year-old, the Tractors Boys are unlikely to sell one of their star players to an arch rival.
