According to the Daily Star, Leeds are interested in bringing former striker Robbie Keane back to the club as they battle for automatic promotion.

Keane is 36 and without a club after leaving LA Galaxy in the summer and he's made it clear he'd like to play in England again.

Keane played for Leeds back in the early noughties, scoring 19 goals in 56 games before a move to Tottenham where he later became a legend scoring over 100 Premier League goals.

Since Leeds he's achieved a lot at Tottenham and Liverpool, whilst also becoming record goalscorer for Republic of Ireland and scoring 100 MLS goals for LA Galaxy.

With Leeds pushing for promotion, manager Garry Monk needs to add to his squad and they are overly reliant on Chris Wood for goals, with the New Zealander bagging 18 goals this season.

The experienced Irishman could make all the difference for the Whites, and here are TWO reasons why Keane would be a good signing for Leeds....

Experience

At 36, not many players are more experienced than Robbie Keane and in a predominantly young team, Leeds could do with some experience.

In fact manager Garry Monk is just a year older than Keane who has played for Tottenham, Liverpool, Leeds, West ham and LA Galaxy.

He has over 100 Premier League goals, 100 MLS goals and is the record goalscorer for Republic of Ireland and their leader.

He has played in the Champions League and at World Cups and has won a lot of individual Player of the Year awards.

He'd be a very useful voice in the dressing room as well.

Natural goalscorer

He may be 36 but rest assured Keane is still a very clinical finisher as he has been showing in the MLS and for Ireland.

Keane left LA Galaxy in the summer after scoring 104 goals in 165 games, having regular 20 goal season's and he could still do a job at this level.

Also the feeling around Leeds is positive and with him being a former player, he'd boost morale of the players and fans.

Chris Wood would also certainly learn a lot from him.
