Throughout the last week, veteran forward Robbie Keane has been linked with a move to the Championship and Preston North End remain favourites.

Keane would be a valuable asset for any Championship side and it seems that North End face competition from sides such as Leeds United.

The Irishman has been making many appearances in the media where he stated that he is likely to make a final decision over his future at the end of the week.

Preston currently sit in eleventh position and just a matter of five points off the play-offs, so Simon Grayson will be looking to snap the free agent up to boost their outside chances.

His high wages could prove to be a problem for the Lilywhites but if they can supply him, with what he demands then Keane should certainly consider Deepdale as his next destination.

In this article, FLW writer Tom Rawcliffe will identify THREE reasons why Robbie Keane should join Preston North End...

Irish revolution

Preston have been putting together an Irish contingent at Deepdale as the Whites currently have six Irishmen signed on with the club.

Ex-Dundalk duo Andy Boyle and Daryl Horgan have been the most recent to arrive and Keane could add to the party.

The veteran has played with Aiden McGeady, on loan at Preston, for their national team and he could play a part in Keane's decision of choosing his next destination.

Final piece of the jigsaw

Preston have been very impressive this season but all they have been missing is a prolific striker.

The Deepdale faithful believe that if they had had a lethal finisher since the start of the season then they'd currently find themselves in a play-off spot.

If Keane joins then he has the potential to fit the bill and score goals on a regular basis as he has done so often in his career to earn the Whites a chance to claim a spot in the top flight.
