Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has stated that Leeds United have been missed in the Premier League.

The Whites will be aiming to meet their ambitions this season and make a return to the top-flight. They're currently sitting top of the Championship and are looking good as they hope to be hosting teams such as Manchester United and Chelsea next season.

Leeds have always been a club with a massive fanbase, meaning many pundits and supporters of other teams may want to see them competing in the Premier League again.

Ex-Leeds striker Fowler has expressed that the Whites are a big club and they have to go up this season, especially with the manager that they currently have.

Fowler wrote in the Sunday Mirror: "Leeds are a big club and they have had too many years now outside the Premier League.

“I think they have been missed – and it’s not just me saying it because I’ve played for them.

“They need to be in the Premier League and this is the season they must go up.

“They have had the right backing and the right manager in Marcelo Bielsa."

The Verdict

Leeds are traditionally a top-flight club but have been out of the division for so long now, that maybe it is time they return. If anyone can lead them to promotion it will be Bielsa, as he has done such a good job in terms of their style and results since joining the club.

The Whites have to make sure that they continue to focus on the challenges ahead and don't get carried away with any talk of promotion.

Last season, they suffered a costly lapse of concentration near the back end of the campaign and it saw them miss out on automatic promotion, and then lose in the play-off semi-finals. They'll hope they have learned and can go one better.
