Blackburn Rovers have signed striker Ben Brereton from fellow Championship club Nottingham Forest on an initial loan deal.

The 19-year-old could make his switch to Ewood Park permanent in January for a fee worth up to £7m.

Brereton came through Forest's academy and scored nine goals in 57 appearances for the club after making his first team debut in January 2017.

So does this money involved in this deal offer good value to Rovers?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

It could be, but right now it is an overspend.

I know Brereton is an exciting youngster, but paying that much, at this level, for an unproven player is utter madness.

There’s pressure on him to bag goals now, but he’s never been prolific. I know he is only young, but that price tag invites pressure onto him.

I hope he does well, for his sake and for Tony Mowbray’s.

George Dagless

Time will tell.

It seems a cop out I know but I think it could go one of two ways with the striker.

I do think Blackburn is a good club for him, though, so it may end up being good value.

Sam Rourke

It's a hefty fee.

Brereton is still relatively raw and is developing and maturing as a player, so right now, you could say they've overspent.

But give him time to develop and mature, Brereton flourish and be worth a lot more in a few years time.
