Derby County assistant Paul Simpson knows that the right-back position is a priority this summer, reports the Derby Telegraph.
Andre Wisdom spent the second half of last season under Steve McClaren and made an impression amongst Rams fans, he has now returned to Liverpool but Derby haven’t ruled a return for the 21 year old.
The only recognised right-back is Kieron Freeman and regardless of his decision to stay or leave Derby, they will purchase the required position.
Freeman is in advanced talks with League One Sheffield United and is looking to re-unite with manager Nigel Clough.
Assistant coach Paul Simpson said ”It’s a position we have identified that we need to bring somebody in. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to realise that. Andre Wisdom was excellent for us last season and before that, we had Adam Smith.”
So right-back is an area that we need somebody else in, whether Kieron Freeman stays or not, because you’ve got to have cover in all positions.” he added.
