Derby County slumped to their seventh Championship defeat of the season against Barnsley yesterday and many Rams fans have been discussing the performance of goalkeeper David Marshall.
Tykes boss Ismael Valerien claimed his first away win since taking charge of the Yorkshire club last month as his side beat Derby 2-0 at Pride Park.
Marshall’s error handed the visitors the lead in the first half, with Connor Chaplin latching onto his wayward pass and firing the ball into the back of the net.
Victor Adeboyejo ensured Barnsley took all three points by curling a long-range effort past the Scotsman in the 83rd minute.
The result means that the Rams are bottom of the Championship with just six points from 11 games as we head into the international break.
Questions will certainly be asked of Marshall, who has been one of Derby’s most consistent players since joining from Wigan in the summer but ultimately cost his side by handing the visitors the impetus at Pride Park.

The experienced Championship shot-stopper has proved a relatively popular figure among fans of the East Midlands club thus far but caught their attention for all the wrong reasons yesterday, with many supporters taking to Twitter to voice their thoughts.
Read their reaction here:
The endeavour is there this afternoon at least, but the quality is severely lacking. Howler from Marshall but he’s been responsible for most of the six points we have this season. Seeing the ‘unlucky’ tweets again – I’m a firm believer that you make your own luck #DCFC #dcfcfans

Spot on again 👍🏼 feel sorry for Marshall as you say he’s probably the main reason we have any points on the board full stop…

You just cannot legislate for Marshall’s aberration there. An hour to put it right. #DCFC

Can’t be angry at Marshall, we would have 0 wins if it wasn’t for him #dcfc

Never saw that coming, especially from Marshall #dcfc

Hopeless. Marshall takes the blame but we’ve got to take the chances #dcfc
