Derby County are set to be fined £100,000 for accounting irregularities, the EFL have recently confirmed ahead of the 2021/22 season.
That’s not their only worry either, with the threat of relegation into League One still potentially being on the cards for Wayne Rooney’s side.
Derby have also been ordered to file restated accounts for financial years ending 30 June 2016, 2017 and 2018 that meet the requirements of FRS102, together with updated Profit & Sustainability calculations if necessary.
With the Championship and League One fixture list recently being released, the EFL have confirmed that there will be an interchangeable fixture list for Derby County and Wycombe Wanderers, with the Chairboys potentially playing their football in the second tier once again if the Rams are to drop into League One after the disciplinary process.
Plenty of Derby County supporters took to social media to react to this update from the EFL on Wednesday evening.
Take a look at the best of the reaction from Twitter below…..
I think I’m getting this right. Didn’t they say we could only get one punishment after they won the appeal. Out of a fine, point deduction, or relegation. This seems to be two punishments at once but we don’t know for certain if we’ll be relegated but it’s looking that way.

Ridiculous that it could be backdated to last season. Surely it has to take effect from either the season when it first came to light (which was prior to the last one) or at the current moment, which would be the start of next season. Mel has really got us into a right pickle.

This is ridiculous. What league are we in then?

It’s a mess 🥲

For the love of God just relegate us already, how are we (and Wycombe) supposed to prepare for a season that starts in less than 2 months when we don’t know what division we’ll be in! https://t.co/Ge81UwwBFf

Never ending story 🙃 https://t.co/YryLR9tZsf

Its not fair to Wycome either. Ludicrous situation. Football should be played on the pitch, not in the courts.

This will role on into the new season then Wycombe will appeal in the courts. Its a mess
