Many Birmingham City fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that Alvaro Gimenez is reportedly set to leave the club today.

According to Spanish news outlet Diario De Cadiz, the forward will join Cadiz on an initial loan deal until the end of the season.

It is understood that Segunda Division side will sign Gimenez on a permanent deal in the summer which will allow Birmingham to turn a profit on the £1.4m they paid for the 28-year-old last year.

Since joining the Blues from Almeria, the forward has struggled to adapt to life in the Championship.

Despite making 24 league appearances for Birmingham, the former Elche man has only scored on three occasions and is currently behind Lukas Jutkiewicz in the pecking order at St Andrew's.

Having opted to sign Scott Hogan on a temporary deal from Aston Villa earlier this week, Blues head coach Pep Clotet has seemingly opted to make Gimenez surplus to requirements.
