Birmingham City announced recently that exciting midfielder Kerim Frei has left the club and joined Turkish side İstanbul Başakşehir.
The 23-year-old winger only joined the Blues in January but his stint is almost over before it even started after making just thirteen appearances for the club, only three of them being starts.
He arrived with a lot of expectation due to his time in England with fellow Championship side Fulham.
One side of the coin would tell you that Frei never impressed enough to warrant a regular place in the team but a lot of Birmingham supporters take the view that he was never given a real chance.
At the age of just 23, Frei still has plenty of time to mature and develop ad a footballer, so Redknapp could potentially regret letting this dynamic midfielder depart St Andrews.
To reflect on the reaction from Birmingham supporters we have collected a selection of tweets which best sum up the view amongst supporters…
Ridiculous. I bet we lost money on him too. Decent player, never given a real chance. Let's sign some more 30 odd year olds… #bcfc

What happens when you don't give someone with his quality game time…

Absolutely stupid decision, if we replace him with someone like downing the club has not done good business

Kerim Frei looked good from little chances we saw. Nothing to be done if unsettled but not sure replacing with Downing is step forward #bcfc

poor move, our best and most creative winger, should of been given a chance
