Last weekend saw Sunderland see off strugglers AFC Wimbledon 1-0 at the Stadium of Light thanks to a brilliant strike from Aiden McGeady.

Next up for Jack Ross's side is a trip to Oxford United and will be hoping to welcome in new striker Will Grigg for the occasion.

Grigg was one of five new faces to arrive at the club in the January transfer window with midfielder Grant Leadbitter, centre-back Jimmy Dunne, winger Lewis Morgan and striker Kaziah Sterling all joining him.

Ross will be hoping that the new additions will give his club an edge in the race for automatic promotion in League One, currently sat in fourth place.

But January was a month for a current Sunderland player to impress as well as versatile midfielder Luke O'Nien picked up the club's player of the month award for the second time in a row.

He has become an incredibly popular figure among the fans since arriving in the summer and it is easy to see why.
