Huddersfield Town have recently confirmed the signing of Richard Stearman, who arrives from Premier League side Sheffield United on a 18-month deal.
Stearman struggled for consistent game time with the Blades this season, and was restricted to just three appearances, all of which came in cup competitions.
The defender played his part in Sheffield United’s promotion to the Premier League last season though, as he made 17 appearances in the 2018/19 campaign.
Stearman issued a heartwarming message to the Sheffield United supporters after his move to Huddersfield was confirmed, and labelled his time with the club as ‘an amazing journey’.
Now the dust has settled..what an amazing journey it has been Blades. An incredible dressing room, a manager/staff I have the utmost respect for and a club/fans that I was honoured and priveledged to represent..made memories that will live with me forever!Always a Blade..Stears⚔️ pic.twitter.com/OI7M437qg6

Stearman joins a Huddersfield team that are struggling to stay afloat in the Championship, and he’ll be keen to hit the ground running with the Terriers at the earliest of opportunities.
Danny Cowley’s side are currently sat 20th in the second tier standings, and will know that performances have to improve as soon as possible if they’re to avoid suffering back-t0-back relegations.
Stearman and his Huddersfield team-mates are next in action at the weekend when they take on promotion-chasing Brentford, in what is certain to be a tough test for Danny Cowley’s men.
This could be a smart bit of business by Huddersfield.
Stearman has experience of playing his part in Sheffield United’s promotion to the Premier League not so long ago, and he’ll be hoping he can add something to a Huddersfield team that has struggled for much of this year’s league campaign.
I think his departure from Sheffield United was the best move for both parties, as it seemed highly unlikely that he would ever force his way into the Blades starting XI this season in the top-flight.
