Rhian Brewster has stated that a move to Swansea was the best option due to knowing current manager Steve Cooper.

The pair worked together when the youngster played for England's under-17 side whilst Cooper was manager of the team. They clicked excellently as Brewster finished top scorer as they won the World Cup for their specific age group.

Cooper will now be hoping to get the best out of him again, as Swansea look to push for a place in the top-six of the Championship.

Brewster has expressed that he feels the move was right, purely down to the fact that he's worked under Cooper before in his career.

Speaking to Swansea's official website, Brewster said: “It helps when you know the head coach and have worked under him before. I’ve worked with a few of the backroom staff here before as well. That helps quite a bit.

“Right now, this move is the best option for me. To work with him again at club level is going to be very different, but I’ve just got to work hard on the training pitch and, hopefully, get picked for the games and help the team by scoring goals.”

The Verdict

It will help Brewster to know Cooper, especially as a young player making a loan move to a new place where you're going to have to live. It's going to be very interesting to see how he gets on and whether he can continue his development as a player.

If anyone can help the forward develop then it's going to be a manager that is so used to doing that and someone who has actually helped Brewster in the past.

Brewster needs to get his first goal early on for the club, and then the goals could start flowing due to the confidence that the youngster will have.
