After a weekend break from the Sky Bet Championship due to the FA Cup last week, the English second-tier returns with a bang this weekend, as Sheffield United host Sheffield Wednesday in one of the season’s most eagerly anticipated fixtures.
The Steel City derby is one of English football’s most fierce derbies, and this weekend has an added spice, with Jos Luhukay set to take charge of his first fixture following his appointment at Sheffield Wednesday.
Wednesday will also be looking for payback at Bramall Lane this Friday, after Chris Wilder masterminded a stunning victory in the reverse fixture back in September, as John Fleck, Mark Duffy and Leon Clarke (x2) fired the Blades to a stunning 4-2 victory to silence the Hillsborough crowd.
Here at FLW we are loving the build-up to the Steel City derby, and took to Twitter to run a poll, asking our followers who is the biggest club – Sheffield Wednesday or Sheffield United?
We had almost 450 votes in our poll, with Sheffield Wednesday edging past their city rivals in the result, with the Owls picking up 53% of the vote to the Blades’ 47%.
