It's been a frustrating season so far for Blackburn Rovers.

Despite showing plenty of promise, some disappointing form at inopportune moments means it looks as though the club will once again be forced to settle for a place in mid-table this season.

Even so, the club it seems, are still willing to put their money where their mouth is, when it comes to the amounts they are paying certain members of their squad.

Here, we've taken a look at the ten highest paid players in the squad at Ewood Park, according to Salary Sport, with what can only be described as some interesting results.

Holtby's arrival at Ewood Park in September 2019 was certainly a high profile one, meaning you can see why claims a spot on this list.

Another whose contract is set to expire in the summer, the midfielder - who has so far made 50 appearances for the club, earns £15,000 a week, or £780,000 per year.

The 31-year-old left-back, whose contract at Elland Road expires at the end of this season, is apparently earning £15,000 per week, or £780,000 per year, as well.

While Ayala may have arrived on a free transfer last summer following his departure from Middlesbrough, it seems the centre back did still not exactly come cheap for Rovers.

The 29-year-old, who signed a three-year deal at Ewood Park, and who has made just nine appearances this season due to injury, reportedly earns £17,000 per week, or £884,000 per year.
