Barnsley have had a superb season so far, with Valérien Ismaël's men firmly in the hunt for a top six finish.

Taking the Tykes to the Premier League would be a massive achievement for the Frenchman, but the fact they are even competing for the play-offs is impressive.

That's because they simply don't have a budget that compares to most of the teams around them, or most in the league in fact.

This is reflected by Barnsley's wage bill, and here we look at the top ten earners at Oakwell, going by Salary Sport.

Styles has been one of the best players for Barnsley this season, with his energetic displays down the left flank really catching the eye.

Despite his quality, Styles is only the 10th top earner at the club, picking up £4,400 a week.

Next up, keeper Collins is earning £4,500 a week.

Even though that puts him in the top XI, the stopper has had to be patient for his chance, but he is now starring for the Yorkshire side.

The eighth highest earner is influential defender Andersen.

His salary works out at just over £250,000 a year, which is £4,900 a week. Given his level of performances, Barnsley fans will feel that's great business from the club.

Another defender, Halme has struggled with injuries this season, but he will hope to play a key role moving forward.

Having signed from Leeds, the Finnish U21 international is collecting £5,500 a week.

Next, Michał Helik is believed to be on £5,900 a week.

The Polish defender has established himself as a vital player under Ismael since making the move from Cracovia.

Another foreign recruit, Michael Sollbauer has played his part in the Tykes success since joining from Wolfsberger.

Like Helik, the Austrian is on £5,900 a week.

The fourth highest earner at Oakwell is Frieser.

He signed from LASK Linz ahead of the current campaign, and he is said to have signed a contract that will see him paid £6,400 a week.

Perhaps the most influential player at the club, Mowatt is a classy midfielder who is on around £6,500 a week.

With his current deal expiring in the summer, Tykes fans will be hoping he agrees a new deal soon, which would surely come with a significant pay rise.

Kane is the second highest earner at Oakwell, picking up £7,200 a week.

A deal for the midfielder was finalised in the summer, and his wage will reflect the fact he has good pedigree having come through at Liverpool and shone in the lower leagues on a few loan spells.

Unsurprisingly, Woodrow is the top earner, on £8,400.

In modern terms, that may not seem like a lot, but it is to Barnsley and shows just how important the forward is to this team.
