Revealed: Aston Villa man edges out Ipswich rival with 61% of vote in recent poll

Two of the Sky Bet Championship’s most experienced managers go head-to-head this weekend, when Steve Bruce takes on Mick McCarthy, as Aston Villa welcome Ipswich Town to Villa Park.

Over the course of their respective careers, Bruce and McCarthy have excelled, earning a big reputation in English football and particularly the Championship, where both have delivered promotion.

Bruce has delivered promotion to the Premier League for both Birmingham City and Hull City earlier in his managerial career, and is now trying to guide Villa back to the top-flight and restore some pride following a miserable few years for the club.

Like Bruce, McCarthy has promotion experience, having led Sunderland and Wolverhampton Wanderers to the top-flight previously, as well as mounting serious challenges with Ipswich during his earlier days at Portman Road.

Ahead of their meeting in the Championship on Saturday, we wanted to find out who our followers would prefer in-charge of their clubs – Bruce or McCarthy?

Bruce, who has more recent promotion experience in the Championship, picked up 61% of the vote, whilst just 39% of voters in our poll edged towards McCarthy.

Who would you rather have? Bruce or McCarthy? Let us know your thoughts!
