Reading FC return to Sky Bet Championship action this evening against Barnsley, where Jaap Stam’s side will be looking to return to winning ways following three fixtures without a victory.

Stam’s side haven not tasted victory since early November’s 4-2 triumph over Derby County, suffering a defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers, before back-to-back draws with Bolton and Sheffield Wednesday inside the last week.

Here at FLW, we have taken a look at Stam’s team selection ahead of this evening’s clash between Reading and Barnsley at the Madejski Stadium, debating whether it is time for Omar Richards to come back into the starting XI on the left.

Richards has started just one Championship fixture for Reading so far this season, which coincidently was the 4-2 victory over Derby earlier this month.

The 19-year-old was replaced at 4-1 that afternoon, but has not been handed an appearance by Stam in the three fixtures since then, with Chris Gunter and Tyler Blackett preferred.

We ran a poll to see if Reading’s supporters believed it was time for Richards to come back into the starting XI for tonight’s clash with Barnsley, with an overwhelming 75% of Royals voting in favour of the defender returning to Stam’s side.
