Revealed: 68% think this is the bigger game of the Steel City Derby and East Midlands Derby

It gets said every year but the Championship is once again looking set to be one of the most closely fought divisions this season, with a whole glut of sides potentially set for a play-off or promotion place.

With Premier League football at stake, well over half the teams in the league will feel as though they can get promoted this year and so, naturally, we’re getting big games pretty much every weekend to look forward to. The biggest games of all, though, are the derbies and we’ve certainly got plenty of those to look out for over the rest of the campaign.

Indeed, the Second City Derby is not that far away now with Aston Villa and Birmingham set to do battle whilst we’ve also just seen the East Midlands Derby and, before the international break, Sheffield Wednesday’s game with Sheffield United.

Games where local pride and, more than likely this season, a top six place can be at stake, we’ve seen plenty of drama with the Steel City Derby ending 4-2 to the Blades and the Rams beating Forest easily with a 2-0 win. Both had good atmospheres, though, as you might expect, and so it got us thinking, which is the bigger derby of the pair? Leading us to this Twitter poll:

Clearly, then, it’s the Steel City Derby that’s seen as the bigger game by fans of the clubs and neutrals alike and that might make sense with the pair both challenging for the top six, whilst only Derby look likely out of them and Forest.
