A number of factors have contributed to Leeds United’s downfall in the Sky Bet Championship recently, one of which has been Thomas Christiansen’s goalkeeping dilemma, which has seen both Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan come in for criticism over recent months.

Wiedwald started the season magnificently as Leeds’ first choice, but a run of worrying performances from the German led to Christiansen dropping him in early October, with Lonergan coming in to deputise.

Like Wiedwald, Lonergan’s introduction was positive, but prior to the international break, the goalkeeper was in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, making two major blunders against Brentford in Leeds’ 3-1 defeat at Griffin Park.

Ahead of the Championship’s return this weekend, Christiansen is facing another major selection dilemma in goal, with many calling for Wiedwald to return against Middlesbrough at Elland Road on Sunday and Lonergan sacrificed in the same way his teammate was.

Here at FLW, we asked Leeds’ supporters if they believed Lonergan should retain his place in the starting XI for this weekend’s clash with Boro.

62% of voters in our poll want to see Lonergan dropped from the starting XI, with just 38% believing the 34-year-old is deserving of another chance from the start against Boro.
