Sunderland’s latest new era begins in earnest tonight as Chris Coleman takes charge of his first game as the Black Cats’ manager.
After a drawn-out process that took weeks to find a new manager following the sacking of Simon Grayson the north-east side finally went for Chris Coleman after he decided he’d leave the Welsh national team set-up.
It’ll be interesting, then, to see who comes in for the Black Cats under Coleman and whether or not he is going to make wholesale changes to the side.
We think he’ll give some hungry, younger players the chance to shine, though, with the old-guard letting the club down badly and with that in mind, we’ve put a poll out.
Indeed, we asked Sunderland fans on Twitter whether or not they’d give George Honeyman a chance to enjoy a more prolonged spell in the side.
This was the response:
????️ SUNDERLAND FANS!
Is it time for George Honeyman to have a prolonged spell in the side? #SAFC ????

Clearly, then, the majority of Sunderland fans want to see the youngster come into the side more regularly. A local lad, Honeyman appreciates the size of Sunderland and he’ll surely carry the expectations of the fans if he does get the chance to play more often.
