Bolton Wanderers rounded off 2017 with a well earned and hard fought away win at Bramall Lane to give them a much needed three points heading into the New Year.

The Trotters seized on a lacklustre performance from the home side to take the lead in the first half through Gary Madine, and the away side did not look back, holding on throughout the second half to seal a vital win and go back to Lancashire with the three points.

Bolton had gone up last season along with United but had found themselves some way clear of the standard set by the Blades, and the victory will have been a sweet one for Bolton fans, who found themselves in a rivalry with United fans throughout much of last term.

Following the game, plenty of Bolton fans took to Twitter to show their delight at their team's performance, and it's safe to say Wanderers fans were more than delighted with their team.
