Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall is currently enjoying a loan spell with Rangers at the moment.

The young defender joined the Gers in the summer on a loan deal until the end of the season after losing his place in the Reds' line-up under manager Aitor Karanka.

However, according to a report from the Daily Star with quotes from respected Mail journalist Scott McDermott, it doesn't look like Worrall is up for making his move to Ibrox a permanent one.

“Normally with these things - we obviously go and interview these players when they arrive on loan and at times during the season - eight, nine times out of 10, the guy speaks really highly about the club and also speaks really passionately about getting a permanent deal or trying to get a longer deal." McDermott said.

Joe Worrall hasn’t done that at all. Nottingham Forest are still a big club, obviously. But more importantly they’e his club, they’re his local club, they’re where he’s grew up."

“His ambition, whether Rangers fans like it or not, is to play for Nottingham Forest and ultimately play in the Premier League. Whether that’s for Nottingham Forest or somebody else." McDermott added.

The news will no doubt be something for Forest fans to digest, many of whom will no doubt have been casting a watchful eye over the 21-year-old following his summer move.

Worrall made a big impression with Forest initially and is still highly thought of in some quarters at the City Ground, however, with such a big overhaul in the squad over the summer and more signings expected in the next few windows, Worrall could struggle to command a place.

The verdict

Worrall just needs to knuckle down really and get on with playing football.

Steven Gerrard won't stand for any attitudes in his Rangers squad, and if Worrall does drift off, it would no surprise me to see him back at Forest sooner rather than later.
