Two new players could be set to come in at Sheffield Wednesday in the near future, according to a local journalist.

Dom Howson, sports journalist at The Sheffield Star, has said that he expects the signings of Julian Börner and Moses Odubajo to be wrapped up sooner rather than later.

Who is Börner?

Former German youth international Julian Börner is a 28-year-old centre-back who has his cloth in the Bundesliga's second tier for the majority of his career.

According to SoccerBase, he has played 82 times for his club Arminia Bielefeld, and has been at the club since July 2014.

Börner has already made it to Arminia that he has no intention of extending his contract which ends at the end of this month.

Who is Odubajo?

The next expected incoming to Hillsborough is much more likely to be known to English fans in Moses Odubajo.

Odubajo is a versatile full-back who can play on both sides and also in midfield, if required.

The 25-year-old has played 30 games in the Championship for Brentford this season - eight from the bench - but looks to have played his last game as he hopes for more game time at Wednesday next year.

The former England U20 international has a lot of Championship experience, playing 122 games, as well as 96 in League One, according to stats from Transfermarkt.

He has also played in eight play-off matches at just 25 - a perk for any team who wants to be challenging the top six.

Like Börner, the defenders' contract runs out at the end of the month, and that means that he can be picked up on a free by Steve Bruce's side.

The Verdict

If these two signings come off - and they look like they are - then it will be good business from Sheffield Wednesday.

They will be picking up two defenders with a point to prove and be adding some more depth to the squad.

Steve Bruce's side gained a lot of momentum by the end of the season and weren't far from the top six, so he will be hoping to pick up where they left off.
