It's 'now or never' for Jordan Rhodes as he looks to rescue his Sheffield Wednesday career, according to Yorkshire Live reporter Dom Howson.

Things haven't gone too well since the striker made the move to Hillsborough from Middlesbrough in 2017 for a big-money fee.

In that time Rhodes has made 84 appearances but scored just 14 goals in almost three years with the Owls.

After scoring goals for fun with both Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough expectations were high of the striker but things just haven't worked out.

As a result Rhodes faces an uncertain future.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and given his status as one of the club's highest-earners it seems that he's at something of a crossroads.

One man who has been watching him closely is Dom Howson who believes that the time is now for Rhodes to finally prove that he's worthy of a new deal with the club.

Writing for Yorkshire Live, Howson said: "It is now or never for Rhodes.

"He has got to deliver at a time when Wednesday are short on attacking options.

"His present contract expires at the end of the season and I think he has got it all to do to earn a new deal."

The Verdict

It seems that the writing is on the wall as far as Jordan Rhodes' Sheffield Wednesday career is concerned.

In almost three years we've seen nothing like the sort of quality that convinced the Owls to spend such vast sums on bringing him to the club.

To ask him to suddenly find his way is probably too much of an ask, and so it's likely that he's now playing to convince potential suitors that he still has what it takes to perform at this leve.
