Reporter provides update into Portsmouth’s transfer stance on key duo after latest rumours

It’s set to be an interesting summer ahead for Kenny Jackett’s Portsmouth side as they look to win promotion back into the Championship after losing out in the play-offs last season.

Some key players have been linked with moves away from Fratton Park, with Jamal Lowe and Matt Clarke already attracting interest from a number of clubs.

BBC South TV’s Andrew Moon has issued an important update on Portsmouth’s transfer business heading into the summer as they prepare for another season in League One.

Lowe has been linked with a move to Millwall (according to The Portsmouth News), and it’s been reported that the Championship side have already seen a £1.5m bid rejected for the 24-year-old.

He was hugely impressive for Portsmouth last season, scoring 17 goals in total as they narrowly missed out on a chance to win promotion.

Clarke was as impressive at the other end of the pitch, and is wanted by Premier League side, Brighton and Hove Albion (according to TEAMtalk), who will be looking to strengthen their squad ahead of another season in the Premier League.

Kenny Jackett is seemingly digging his feet in and is keen to retain the services of his key players heading into next season, where they’ll be hoping to make a timely return to the Championship.

The Verdict:

I think it’s only a matter of time before they depart.

Both Clarke and Lowe were hugely impressive for Kenny Jackett’s side last season as they missed out on promotion to the Championship.

They’ll both be wanting to move forward with their careers and a move to a team in a better division will surely be a no-brainer to both of them.

Portsmouth need to start finding replacements for the pair at the earliest of opportunities.
