Sports reporter Ian Abrahams has recently come under criticism by Leeds United and Norwich City fans, after claiming that it would be "bad for English football" if the pair were promoted to the Premier League this season.

The Canaries and the Whites currently occupy the Championship automatic promotion places, with the latter sitting five points clear of 3rd place Sheffield United.

But Abrahams, speaking on TalkSport, said that it would "be bad for English football" if the pair were to secure promotion to the top flight this term, insisting that the Premier League needs more English managers.

"I have to say that it's great to see Norwich back towards the top of the Championship and looking to get back in the Premier League - but my argument today is that it would be bad for English football if Norwich, and indeed Leeds, get promoted this year."

"Behind Daniel Farke and Bielsa - are Chris Wilder at Sheffield United, Darren Moore at West Brom, Frank Lampard at Derby County, Dean Smith at Villa and Tony Pulis at Middlesbrough - the only way we're going to get more English coaches in the Premier League is to get their teams promoted. We only have 4 right now."

The general argument is that Norwich, despite having a German coach, Farke has developed a plethora of exciting, homegrown talent at Carrow Road - the likes of Todd Cantwell, Jamal Lewis and Max Aarons have all emerged as first-team regulars, after coming through the youth ranks in Norfolk.

Farke's men have won eight of their last nine league games and sit firmly at the top of the Sky Bet Championship table, after just one defeat in sixteen league outings.

The Verdict

I think it's quite a ludicrous comment by Moose to be quite honest.

Regardless of what nationality Farke is, he has worked wonders at Norwich and has developed many English youngsters - none other than James Maddison who is lighting up the Premier League for Leicester.

He'll live to regret his comments.
