Sheffield Wednesday could yet seal a deal to sign Kenneth Zohore from West Bromwich Albion.

Garry Monk has enjoyed a positive summer period as Wednesday boss and that’s been reflected in a start to the season that has seen them claw back five points after a 12-point deduction.

However, there’s work still to be done in the transfer window and Monk wants another striker through to door despite the capture of Callum Paterson earlier in the month.

Quiz: Do Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United have these 10 things in common?

As per Yorkshire Live, Zohore is a player that Wednesday like and he’s set for a move away from West Brom. The striker is out of the picture under Slaven Bilic and could be available for a cut-price or loan in the remaining week of the transfer window.

Zohore, 26, scored three goals for West Brom last season in the Championship as Bilic guided the club to promotion. However, he wasn’t the striker that led the line for the bulk of the campaign.

Now, Bilic wants to sign Karlan Grant to ease the burden on Callum Robinson, which would only push Zohore further down the pecking order.

Zohore’s last outing for West Brom was on June 26th as Bilic’s side lost out 1-0 to Brentford.

The Verdict

This is good news for Wednesday.

As time ticks away this summer and the transfer window enters its final week, West Brom will be eager to shift Zohore on.

That heightens the likelihood of a loan or a cut-price deal, which suits Wednesday.

They want another striker, but will not be able to pay over the odds. Zohore and the circumstance around him could suit them down to the ground.
