Leeds United could see Newcastle United derail their chances of securing a deal for PSG midfielder Tanguy Kouassi as the Premier League side are reportedly closing monitoring the 17-year-old's situation.

The teenager made his debut at the start of the 2019/20 campaign and has gone on to make 13 appearances for the French giants – scoring three times and providing one assist.

Kouassi is out of contract in the summer and it was reported last week that Leeds United has emerged as a potential destination for the midfielder and his 17-year-old teammate Adil Aouchiche.

The report suggests that should the duo sign new deals with PSG they could be sent on loan to Elland Road this season.

It appears Kouassi may end up at a different English club, however, as French site Le10sport has reported that Newcastle are very closely monitoring his situation.

The Magpies look set to be taken over by a Saudi Arabia-backed consortium, which may mean a large financial injection into the club and a potential squad overhaul.

It is understood that RB Leipzig are also battling for the teenager and are confident of landing him this summer.

Kouassi, who is comfortable as both a centre-back and a defensive midfielder, was born in Paris and has progressed through PSG's youth system.

The Verdict

It looks as though Leeds chances of landing Kouassi are diminishing due to the interest from other clubs, such as Newcastle and RB Leipzig.

The takeover of the Magpies appears close and this report hints that it could derail the Whites chances of signing the teenager.

Kouassi's links to the Whites remain somewhat unclear but he could have been an interesting addition, particularly under Marcelo Bielsa.

You do wonder whether a loan deal may have seen him break sone Leeds hearts in the way that Ben White looks set to this summer.
