Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan could be allowed to leave the club this January, according to a report from the Birmingham Mail.

Hogan has failed to get back into form for the Villans despite the arrival of his former Brentford manager Dean Smith.

And the report from the Mail suggests that Hogan could well be allowed to leave, with manager Smith admitting they are 'top heavy' with four strikers on the books despite only playing one up front.

That one up front happens to be Tammy Abraham too, who has bee superb for the Villans and notched his 18th and 19th goals of the season yesterday as they saw off Ipswich Town at Villa Park.

Hogan has attracted the interest of Sheffield United, and according to the report, is also interesting Lee Johnson and Bristol City.

The striker was a big money signing a few seasons back for Villa but has failed to replicate the type of form which saw the Villans pay big money.

Hogan would no doubt relish a move away from the club if first team football is on offer, although with the form of Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick at Sheffield United, he would find that hard to come by at Bramall Lane too.
