According to The Bolton News, there has been no contact made to Bolton Wanderers over Josh Vela, who is seemingly in-demand heading into the January transfer window.
Reports have suggested that Bolton are set to face a battle to keep Vela at the Macron Stadium in the New Year, with Derby County, Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday all keen on a move for the 23-year-old.
However, sources close to Bolton have denied that there has been any contact about Vela, who is also on Brighton and Hove Albion’s radar.
Vela has enjoyed a successful spell with Bolton over the last 18 months, with the academy product scoring 10 goals in the Trotters’ promotion campaign last season, before making a positive impact back in the Championship this year.
The 23-year-old has featured in Bolton’s last 10 Championship fixtures, helping Phil Parkinson’s side put together an impressive run of results to give themselves a lifeline in the battle against relegation.
Vela was part of the Bolton side that lost 3-2 to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon, which left Parkinson’s side 21st, outside the relegation zone on just goal difference.
Parkinson’s side will come up against bottom of the table Burton Albion next weekend.
This is encouraging news for Bolton, who will be desperate to keep Vela at the Macron Stadium during the January transfer window.
However, things can change quickly in the transfer window, and we could see Bolton face a serious battle to keep Vela at the club.
Some of the Championship’s big clubs are interested in signing the 23-year-old, who has proved his worth to Bolton over the last couple of months.
