According to the Telegraph, Jordan Amavi is almost certain to leave Aston Villa in the summer of 2018.
The French defender has already left Villa, joining Marseille on a season-long loan, but that deal is set to be made permanent next summer, bringing an end to a poor spell in English football.
Amavi arrived at Aston Villa ahead of the 2015/16 Premier League season, but struggled to make an impact during his first 12-months at Villa Park due to injury, with the club suffering relegation from the top-flight at the conclusion of the campaign.
The 23-year-old also struggled to make an impact in the Sky Bet Championship last season, making 34 appearances, but failing to impress Steve Bruce, who looked to move him out of the club permanently this summer.
Amavi completed his loan move to Marseille over the summer, and he has already made two Ligue 1 appearances for his new employers, who he looks set to join permanently next year.
Despite a big summer clear out – including Amavi – Villa have struggled to make the impression they wanted on the Championship at the start of the 2017/18 campaign.
Bruce’s side have just five-points from their opening five fixtures of the season, having picked up just one victory.
It is no surprise to see Villa planning to move Amavi out of the club permanently next summer, as they would have done this summer if the opportunity had come around.
The defender struggled to make an impression in English football and a move back to France is probably the best option for the player, who will be looking to rediscover his best.
Villa have not yet shown many signs of improvement despite Bruce’s shake up, but with an extremely experienced squad, he will be confident that they can push on for the top-six.
